Snowmobile season is finally getting a foothold! We keep getting an inch of white here and there and tonight it is snowing a nice, wet snow which will help our trails a bit more. We have a couple of inches so far and it is still coming down. Trails are still thin cover, especially in lower elevations, but higher elevations are definitely getting there. You need to watch for hazards like rocks and water bars on all trails. Top of Okemo has the most snow but there are deep water bars and we need more snow to fill them in all the way. We're doing our best with what we have. Be careful of a car stuck in the trail on 127A by Pinnacle Rock near the top of the Calcutta trail. It has been there for a few days now. On Friday, all trails were all groomed on both the North Hill side (thanks, Bernie & Greg!) and the Okemo side (thanks, Joey & Ashley!). Our Warming Hut at 127A/127B WR41 is stocked with free hot cocoa to take the chill off. Feel free to get a fire going in the woodstove (or add to it if it is going already). Porta potty is there.
Best part about this weekend is we are combining forces with the Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas on Saturday, Feb1. Two events, one location = double the fun! Our combined event with the Cavendish Snow Fleas will be at the Cavendish Cook Shack . The Side Hill Croncher Safety Check Day will be held from 10-2 and the Cavendish Snow Flea Ride-In is from 10-3. The Cook Shack is at WR43 intersection of Corridor 12 and Corridor 126C. You can also drive by car to it via Twenty Mile Stream Road. Please come join us and help make this event a success! IMPORTANT Reminder: The Catamount trail, a snowshoe and cross-country ski trail, will be detoured onto the VAST trail 7 on Okemo for the entire length of Government/Healdville Road for the 2024/2025 season because of the timber sale. Please be extra alert to people on the trail there. Part of the trail in that area will also be plowed for the timber trucks. Map here.
See you at the Shack!
Friday night shot of Okemo (127). Friday daytime shots of North Hill (127A), the bottom of the "Darcy Trail" and a pic of last year's Safety Check. Keep thinking snow! It's starting to work!
